A castle in the Caucasus
Hotel de Charme, Chailuris, Georgia
In the heart of the winemaking Kakhetia region in the Georgian Caucasus, we have received the commission to design a fairly special “hotel de charme”. To be built inside the walls of a ruined XV century castle, the new buildings of the hotel complex reinterpret with a contemporary flair the traditional styles of Georgian architecture, bringing up-to-date age-old local techniques and materials. Rigourous forms and discreet luxury distinguish this project, that includes a bar inscribed in a medioeval tower, a swimming pool part indoor, part open-air, a Turkish bath, a small beauty farm, all of which exclusively dedicated to the hotel guests, and also a winecellar and a restaurant open to the general public.
